Calm Cabin

(Purpawi Pulgi)

The Calm Cabin/ Purpawi Pulgi is a safe and calm environment intended to provide students with an opportunity to reduce stress and anxiety and develop healthy coping strategies and self-regulation skills. It allows students to be able to reset, refocus and return to learning. Students can visit this space when they need to talk to someone or need support regulating their emotions. The room may be used in a proactive way with bookings (for example students who struggle with transitions) or on an as needs basis (for example regulation support or in a crisis).

The Calm Cabin/ Purpawi Pulgi is an educative space that aims to eliminate/minimise the barriers students face preventing them from being successful in the classroom. When students attend the room, they follow a set procedure that includes learning about strategies that they can employ outside of the room.

RESTORE ROOM

(Tumbetun Pulgi)

The Restore Room/ Tumbetun Pulgi is a space for students to support regulation and develop skills around self-regulation. It contains specialist gym equipment and activities to help students engage, calm or focus themselves to be better prepared for learning and interacting with others.

The room uses certain activities and equipment to give the body vestibular (balance/movement), and proprioceptive (position/ pressure) input in an organised way. Activities are tailored to student’s specific sensory needs.

The room will be used proactively to help students regulate with some students accessing it on a daily basis at a set time and others attending as needed.
